Dark Documentary Youtube Channels …
Dark Documentary Lists: “Best Dark Documentary Channels on YouTube (2021)”
When I first launched this Dark Documentary website, back in 2012, I had realized then that there was a gaping hole in the online documentary landscape for a site that focused on darker subject matter: crime, murder, serial killers, conspiracy, the Occult, etc.
“Wouldn’t it be cool if there was a website that featured, filtered and displayed only the best dark documentaries?”
That’s what I thought to myself at the time and after floating the idea to a couple of friends, everyone kind of agreed that it would be pretty cool, so, … I built it.
Back in 2012, there wasn’t much dark documentary stuff on Youtube with the exception of the random Charles Manson biography and a handful of serial killer documentaries – the vast majority of which were still at the original Youtube 10 minute limit length.
In terms of original dark documentary content on Youtube, there was absolutely nothing.
Safe to say, that close to 10 years later, many truly talented people saw the same market opportunity and decided to fill that dark documentary content gap.
The following list is what I believe to be the best dark documentary channels on Youtube in 2021 -22.
Hope you enjoy.

Hard to describe the JCS – Criminal Psychology Channel in a couple of paragraphs: the writing, the story structure, the voice-over brilliance, the biting, astute psychological analysis and the editing are all absolutely first rate.
The JCS – Criminal Psychology narrator, the brilliant, Kizzume Fowler, guides the viewer through clinical observations and elicits both cringe and fascination from viewers as the tension of an interrogation heightens.

The latest That Chapter video, called, “The Search For Erin Corwin” focuses on the disappearance of a newly married wife, Erin Corwin, who moved to 29 Palms outside of Joshua Tree National Park and mysteriously went missing one day during a hike.

Serial Killer Documentaries is a dark documentary Youtube channel, based out of Romania, that constantly delivers terrific documentaries about famous and not so famous serial killers.
The first time I came across this dark documentary Youtube channel, I was taken aback by the brilliant script and the incredible narrator. But what really caught my ear, was the hilariously appropriate use of ‘Pop Goes The Weasel‘ as the theme music.
Any of the videos can easily be listened to as a serial killer audio book – the writing and narration is that good.
All the serial killer stories are incredibly well researched and even if you’re familiar with some of the dark tales, you’ll learn something new.

John Allen, better known online as MrBallen is an immensely popular dark documentary Youtube channel, based out of the United States, that makes videos for fans “of the strange, dark and mysterious delivered in story format”.
Simply put, Allen is a terrific storyteller. One of the best that I’ve ever heard.
A former Navy Seal, Allen started his YouTube journey making videos where he would tell stories about his days as a Navy Seal.
He quickly found out two important things: he ran out of Navy Seal stories & that he was made for YouTube.
Soon after he would make Youtube his #1 job and he’s been cranking out videos at an incredible rate (usually 2 or 3 per week) ever since.
The subject matter that MrBallen tackles can range from: creepy urban myths of forest ghosts, heroic stories of survival at unimaginable odds, the bizarre back-stories of famous photos to the grotesque details of mass murderers and serial killers.

“What is up, EWU Crew“
That familiar greeting opens up every Explore With Us video just to remind you that you’re on the way to something exciting.
‘The EWU Crew‘ as they are sometime referred to, used to make videos investigating missing persons cases to unsolved mysteries to the supernatural and everything in between.
They sometimes traveled to the locations of some of the missing-person stories that they cover in an attempt to uncover clues that maybe the investigators may have missed.
Recently, however, the Channel has more of a straight-forward dark documentary approach: a scripted narrative
